Trick Or Treat Ninja Book Swap: I've got presents!

After a long day at work, which left me feeling a little bit weary of people, I arrived home to find a great big box addressed to me. Last month I signed up for Bex and Hanna's Trick or Treat Ninja Book Swap, and sent off my parcel with plenty of time to spare, but it still took me by surprise to find a great big box waiting for me with my name on it.

My gift was from Ellie of Curiosity Killed the Bookworm. As a "trick," a surprise book from my chosen genre (science fiction) she sent me Jasper Fforde's Shades of Grey. (A book which has been around far longer than that book of an unfortunately similar title.) I loved his Thursday Next books, but have not yet read this one, though my best friend loves it. I've no excuse now!

Ellie also sent me a few treats:

From my books wishlist: Perfect by Rachel Joyce
A bar of Montezuma's "Eton Mess" chocolate and some "Halloweenies" (seasonal Cadbury animals.)
A chunky ball of wool (It's all multi-coloured and so shimmery! What shall I make with it? Something toasty warm, because winter is coming. Maybe a scarf?)
And a little skull-and-crossbones tote bag (Arrr!), just the right size to take a book for a walk.

Tomorrow is my day off, which I had already planned for a duvet-day, so I shall get stuck into one of my new books and demolish some of that chocolate. So thank you Ellie, and thank you to Hanna and Bex for organising the ninja book swap.

  1. YAY! Glad you liked it (and the boat didn't crash, got a bit worried about that with the bad weather and my colleague's tales of boats getting bent out of shape).

    1. Yes, 2 of the 3 Cowes-Southampton fast ferries were out of action last time I went over to the mainland. :S Yay island life(!) Still, the parcel got here in one piece. I'm very much looking forward to getting stuck into those books. And when I wrote that I was likely to demolish "some" of the chocolate tomorrow, "all" seems more likely. Thank you very much! :)

  2. Woooow, look at the pretties! I LOVED this ninja swap - Bex sent some lovely things, and I can't WAIT for my person to get their parcel too... I mean seriously. You can't go wrong with chocolate and books and cute presents. That ball of wool is super cool, I can't wait to see what you do with it! :)

    1. It's been great fun. This wool is starting to turn into a scarf. IT'S SO SHINY! And looks like it will be stripey as well, which is always fun.

  3. Haha, I went to a Jasper Fforde book signing and the first thing he said was "Yeeeeeah, it's not THAT book!" I love every single one of his books, but I really do need to reread this one.

I have Perfect on my TBR too - The Lit Addicted Brit bought it for my birthday although I haven't got round to it yet.

That IS a very pretty ball of wool. It'd look lovely as a scarf :)

Thanks for joining in with the Ninja Book Swap, and also for linking up.... *anxiously pokes people towards the linky*

    1. Poor Mr Fforde - and the author of "Between Shades of Grey." Such bad luck for them.

    2. Maybe, but imagine how many people accidentally pick up their books while looking for the smutty one in Waterstones!

  4. That's an amazing parcel :-) I'm so glad you enjoyed the swap, and I'm super jealous of your wool it looks awesome! I have still only read half of a Jasper Fforde book once and I really should have read more, I hope you enjoy your books :-)

    1. I really like the "Thursday Next" series, they are a lot of fun. But somehow I've never got round to reading this one.
